Summary
Professionally,
I have a rich blend of Global, Entrepreneurial, Education and Corporate
Business experience, long distance running, child and dog rearing, and
now some remodeling work...
My professional background includes:
-
International
Business - Communications, Marketing (Project/Program
Management, Strategic Planning, Branding, PR, Image, Collateral,
Messaging, Events), Business Development, and Sales, Entrepreneur.
-
Educational
Leadership - Management, Finance and Administration
(Consulting, Teaching, Tutoring, Training, Technical and Copy Writing,
Curricula Development/Instructional Design), Founder, Alternative
Education Programs.
A few of the fields in which I have
extensive expertise include the following: Technology, Telecom,
Construction Chemicals, Retail, Global
Management, Not-for-Profit, Grants, Government, Education,
Fitness/Health and Green Living/Sustainability/Awareness.
Three years ago, I left
a demanding position with Global Crossing to spend more time with my
family, consult on projects, learn, remodel and "greenify"
our home, volunteer and pursue other sustainable
endeavors.
I run and walk dogs, www.mydogruns.com
which keeps us fit, happy and healthy (and their owners stay happy too
!).
I make my own cleaning
products, adhere to alternative (holistic, integrative) medical
solutions, demonstrate raw foods techniques and
create low sugar/low fat/minimal ingredient (organic, when
possible) vegan recipes
(sometimes with success).
I
serve on Boards and Planning committees locally to increase awareness
on the following: living green (Town of Pittsford Green Team,
Rochesterians Against Misuse of Pesticides), alternative education w/o
high stakes testing and focus on democratic, ethical, creative, real
world problem solving, project and discovery learning (Open
Learning Foundation's Open School, Regional
School and Cobblestone School), utilizing
concepts and students' ideas, curiosity, talents and interests to
foment curricula.
I
consult with Idea
Connection Systems on marketing (Have you read the invaluable
book, Making
the Invisible Visible: The Human Principles for Sustaining Innovation),
build innovative and low cost-high ROI marketing plans and websites for
local entities (see http://www.bethhaskalah.org),
and serve as Marketing/Admissions/PR contact and volunteer in my
daughter's 1st/2nd grade class at Cobblestone School and throughout the
community (www.schoolwithoutwalls.org).
I
work on Educational endeavors, aimed at transforming the Educational
experience into a meaningful student-centered (not entitlement or
narcissistic), critical thinking, real world experience. Why should
students have to take standardized tests when the real world wants them
to think for themselves and create real world
solutions? What's wrong with students creating portfolios and
learning through projects, and civic/service/community engagement?
Recently, I developed the Business and
Algebra curricula for Bishop Kearney High School's College Prep Plus
21st Century Technology, http://www.bkhs.org./NewsEvents/News/Detail/?id=182&page=/.
I also teach a fun and engaging Spanish
immersion program, Fun With
Spanish for children.
